Did you know that you can change the visual size or shape of a room or hallway, just by how you arrange colour or even shades of colour?
Here you’ll see a hallway with the same coloured side walls, ceilings and floors.
They are exactly the same size as each other.
Notice the difference in the “visual” distance of the end wall between the two.
The image with the darker wall seems much further away that the image with the lighter coloured end wall.
I’ve done these with strong colours just to show you what a difference in visual distance can be achieved. But……you can achieve this effect in a more subtle way, just by applying a darker shade of the side walls to the end wall.
You’d most likely do this if you wanted a hallway or room to appear longer than it really is.
